solo exhibition by tract mutiny;
In the last few decades, the emphasis on humane animal slaughter led to the sanitized reframing of the slaughterhouse as a meat plant and the slaughter floor as a harvest floor. As the quintessential modern architecture of industrialized slaughter, the harvest floor is defined by precision, unrelenting forward movement, and efficiency. This representational shift is meant to re-represent the act of slaughter from an act of gruesome violence to a humane productive endeavor. SLAUGHTERHOUSE approaches this representational shift as an invitation to grapple with the corresponding technologies of precision and efficiency across sites of industrial extraction, scientific innovation, and military intervention which labor in the name of liberal ideals, such as humanity, progress, freedom, democracy, and growth. Ultimately, this exhibition foregrounds the ways in which slaughter functions as the backbone of racial capitalism.

HEMATOPOIESIS reflects upon the alterations of life through violence in four stages.
Grappling with the intersections of imperialism, petrochemical production, and ethnonationalism, HEMATOPOIESIS explores the subtle morphing of life that emerges haphazardly through the operation of violence across multiple scales of meaning and matter.
Stage I, “Pathology of You,” develops at the nexus of national imaginaries and the irresistible impermanence of the chemical molecule. Specifically, we examine how both the unconditional spillage of blood underpinning nationalist kinship and the unconsensual shapeshifting of molecular matter manifest as spiritual and molecular pathologies. Ultimately, ‘Pathology of You’ captures the ubiquity and potency of violence as a generative life force and filiation.
Throughout its four stages, HEMATOPOIESIS hinges hesitantly on the indeterminacy of life (re-)formation. By suspending the certainty of colonialism, racism, and patriarchy as vehicles of intergenerational futurity, we prospect the recombination of life as a means for otherwise futures.
